Garibaldi Biscuits #100bakeschallenge

Do you like Garibaldi biscuits? I don’t care much for them, to be honest. I don’t know why I’m not that fussed with them and I love eating biscuits far too much! It’s not that they have dried fruit in them. Maybe it’s their texture. I don’t know. But at least they taste nicer than fig rolls. They are revolting!

As Garibaldis were a challenge on the #100bakeschallenge poster, I thought I’d have to give them a go. I wasn’t sure where to look for a recipe as I hadn’t seen one in any of my recipe books. Not that I remember anyway.

In the end I found a recipe on Delicious.com and I thought we’d give it a try.

I found the biscuit dough far too sticky and no matter how much flour I put on the rolling pin and the work top, it just stuck. I couldn’t roll the dough thin enough.

Some of the currants fell out of the sides of the biscuits. The whole thing looked a mess and I just couldn’t get them all the same size.

The verdict? I will not be making these again. A total waste of time and so fiddly for a very plain biscuit. At least Mr S liked them so that was a bonus that they didn’t go to waste. Having said that, I still tried one and I was pleasantly surprised it tasted much better than expected. Won’t encourage me to make any more, though.

Do you like Garibaldi biscuits? Or if you do, have you made them? How did they turn out? Let me know in the comments box below!

Happy Baking!

Love Sam xx
