Crochet Blankets To Order.

I created this Northern Lights inspired blanket last year but I loved it so much I kept it for myself!

SmartCookieSam has always been about baking but I’ve got other interests as well: crochet! It’s hard to keep on top of all my interests in different places on social media so I thought I’d combine it to my established blog and website!

During Lockdown, I rediscovered my love of crochet. After learning the basics from my Nana Margaret as a child, I didn’t do anything until 2020 when the world was turned upside down and I had more time on my hands. I find crochet relaxing and therapeautic as I struggle to sit and watch TV without something in my hands to occupy me.

Here is the very first baby crochet blanket I made. It was following the shell pattern from Lucy’s Attic24 Dune blanket. I was very proud of it, and completed it in the first couple of weeks during the first lockdown.

Since then, I have become a crochet addict. I found the fabulous Attic24 blog and all Lucy’s beautiful blankets and this gave me inspiration for the baby blankets I created during the first lockdown when I was furloughed. Then I’ve graduated to adult, full size blankets which have been an absolute joy to make.

My most recent baby blanket was also a shell patterned one. I have made this design many times over in the last couple of years.

Due to demand, I have started to sell my blankets locally and online. My baby blankets are priced competitively at £25 and can be shipped at an extra cost for postage all over the world. I can create your own bespoke blanket, such as the ones pictured below or in your own colour scheme.

To help me through the stresses and strains of the peri menopause, I crochet on a night to help me relax and have created several single bed sized blankets for sale. They are originally Attic24 patterns and kits but I have more blankets than I know what to do with. I am also in demand for bespoke orders, which keep me busy.

At present I have two bespoke orders in the pipeline, so it will be August time before I can start on any new orders. Full size blankets take 4-6 weeks, depending on pattern and baby blankets usually take about two weeks.

This bright and cheerful single bed size blanket in primary colours and other bold shades is an Attic24 pattern and is inspired by the colours of the harbours along the North Yorkshire coast in the towns of Whitby and Staithes. It is currently looking for a new home and would look amazing on a child’s bed or to snuggle up under in the winter time.

This beautiful blanket is inspired by the colours along the coast when Lucy of Attic24 was away on holiday. Shades of blues, greys, greens and browns make this a calming blanket in a gentle ripple pattern. This would be perfect adorning a bed or caravan even if it isn’t at the seaside.

The bright, vibrant rainbow colours of this Granny Stripe Blanket are a joy to behold. Doesn’t matter if you are an adult or a child, this cheerful blanket will chase the grey clouds away and brighten up your day.

Bespoke Blankets:

If you wish, I can make a blanket to match your decor or your personal colour scheme. Here is a small selection of the blankets I have created for both adults and babies alike. Prices are £25 for a baby blanket and £90 for an adult blanket (packing and postage extra).

This single bed size blanket was especially made to replicate the colours and pattern in my customer’s child’s blanket from babyhood. It now sits on top of her bed.
Another bespoke granny stripe blanket made in this customer’s chosen shades of black, grey and white to fit on a single bed.
This is my current bespoke project on the go using a green and blue colour scheme with a splash of tomato red to co-ordinate with the customer’s sofa!

All my blankets are made in a smoke free environment. We have a dog but I ensure that he is not around me when I am crocheting something for others. My blankets are usually made with a high quality Acrylic DK yarn so it washes well at 30o but will need line drying.

The Attic24 Dune blanket. Made in gorgeous pastel colours and so beautiful, I’ve decided to keep this one to sit on top of my spare bed.
All blankets come with my special SmartCookieSam signature: a cute gingerbread man button.
Scheduled to be ready for mid August: the Hydrangea blanket. This will be for sale. £90 plus P&P.
